The mission of the First St John’s Personal Needs Pantry is to serve members of the community by helping them meet basic needs. We believe when basic needs are met, families at risk can contribute positively to their communities. The Pantry is committed to providing a community service that nurtures healthy families and individuals.

Every week, First St. John’s Personal Needs Pantry distributes personal needs items to the community in conjunction with Lutheran Social Services. This pantry has been an ongoing ministry since 2014 and the weekly operation is run by members and volunteers of our church. Each month we serve over 100+ people in need and provide them with personal needs items that will last them for 2-3 months. This pantry has been solely funded by generous monetary and product donations from our church and church families and the impact to our local community has been immeasurable.

Recently, product costs have continued to increase and there is an even greater need for donations and support. To help make it even easier to donate, we have created an Amazon Wishlist for the pantry. On the list, you will find the products and supplies most needed for the pantry. You can purchase directly from the list on Amazon and the product will ship to the church. This is a great option for those who wish to help but maybe are not able to drop the items off at the church. This link can also be shared with family and friends who may also want to help.

You do not need an Amazon Prime membership to shop, but if you do, you can also utilize free shipping directly to the church. We hope this will open another avenue to support our beloved community pantry project!

As always, you can also still donate by dropping off items at the church in the bins in the narthex (lobby) or lounge, and also monetary donations can be made online (see DONATE button at top of page) or by check, just designate it for ‘Personal Needs Pantry’. Checks can be dropped in the offering plates on Sundays or dropped at the church office M-F from 9:30am-4pm. We also accept gift cards to Amazon, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, or any local grocery store where personal need items can be purchased.

The Pantry closes whenever Toledo Public Schools closes for severe weather days.
